The last time I saw our cable box controller was 6 days ago. Caroline was playing with it.
After a few days of not finding it, I started looking while I cleaned. It didn't show up.
And then I remember this paper I had signed that said I would have to pay for a new controller if we lost the one provided. It's a nice controller. It looked like the company could easily charge $75 to replace one.
So I started looking more diligently. Still, no controller.
Sunday night as I was going to sleep, it occured to me that Monday was garbage day. Caroline likes to throw things away. In fact, we have a missing Wii controller that I suspect got thrown away.
So I told BA to not take the garbage out Monday. I cleaned and looked all the last places I could think the controller would be. And then I put gloves on. And that, is TMI, I know.
An hour later, still, no controller.
So I called the cable company. And I asked how much a cable controller was. $7.50
WHAT?!?!? I just did what for a $7.50 cable box controller???
So I headed over to the local office. I told the lady that my 19 month old had probably thrown away our controller and I needed to purchase a new one. She gave one to me. For free. She just gave it to me.
I don't even think I have to explain my thoughts about what I apparently will do to find a controller that is...free.
The Greek Gods are very "in" at our house right now. Joseph started reading the Percy Jackson series. I thought it looked good, so I started reading them as well. I started on book 4. I was 10 pages into it before Joe told me it was book 4 and that they go in order.
But it was so good, I finished it first. Then, the next book we had was book 2. So I read it, followed by book 1. I must say they are very good books. If your children like, or are interested in Harry Potter, they will most likely love Percy Jackson.
Joe wants to be Ares for Halloween. Well, it depends on the day. A few days ago he thought about Zeus. He could hold a thunderbolt and have a pack on his back of extra thunderbolts.
But then we saw the swords at Walmart. That's when he decided he wanted to be Ares, god of war. Or Percy Jackson, with his ballpoint pen that turns into a 3 foot sword when he takes the cap off.
How do you dress your child like the god of war? Is there something counter-intuitive about that? Hmm.
At the beginning of the school year Sarah came home completely amazed that there were probably 5 kids that were LDS in her class. FIVE!! Can you believe how many there are?
I tried to convince her that there probably weren't 5 kids who weren't LDS in her class. Three weeks ago she informed me that she'd actually found out that half of her class was LDS. And, yesterday, she told me that there were only 2 kids who weren't LDS.
It's an amazing thing for our kids to see that indeed most of their peers are their same religion. I think it has especially been interesting for Sarah to realize that. And it's been good. She picks up on so much in other people. It's good that so many of those "other people" share her same values.
Caleb. I went to his PTC. His teacher showed his scores for reading. He has the highest in his class, she told me. He is easy, and she loves him. I love PTC.
But I hate sassy kids. And he is starting to fuss at things. Like unloading his part of the dishwasher. And setting the table. And reading before he plays.
He only fusses sometimes. Other times he's ok. But mostly he fusses. That drives me crazy.
The primary program was a few weeks ago. Caleb was having a little tiff with the girl sitting next to him about how little room there was to sit on the bench. On the stand in our chapel behind where the bishopric sits are benches, not chairs. Thus, my 6 yr. old was seen arguing for some of the program.
Of course, that was downplayed by our 19 month old screaming with delight...freequently....that she saw her siblings sitting up on the stand.
And when our family sang one of the songs, I got around being emotional by trying to get the same 19 month old to NOT kick her brother and sister in the back of the head while we were singing. All alone. Just our family. With the baby kicking her siblings. In the head.
I have subbed in nursery a few times since we've been here. I actually really like it. But I asked them to not ask me to sub in nursery again. The last hour, the kids rotate in 3 groups. The guy who had been with Caroline's group the whole time made the observation that Caroline was very well behaved the second hour, when I wasn't with her.
I KNOW! I know this about my children. From about age 18 months to about age...I dont' know, four, my kids act out when I'm with them in public.
So, I won't be in nursery for a while. I'm not exactly as thrilled about that as you might think.
BA is doing good in his practice. I don't know what else to report without going into details. Which I'm not. I don't know many of them. Just the big details. We have been blessed here.
I have been cleaning. And digi-scrapping. And when I get to the end of the day and I've cleaned the main floor 5 times and it's a disaster, I get annoyed. And sometimes it gets cleaned again. Sometimes it doesn't.
I am working on a primary digital kit right now with another lady that I CT for. We are going to release it in a few weeks. It will be free for a week. Actually the religious-specific part will be free forever. The more generic papers and elements will be packaged up to go to the store after a week. So, if you're interested in a primary kit, head over to my scrappin' blog on October 19th, or around then.
I'm sure there is more. But not for today. This is our life. It is good.

Thanks for the update. Love it. Do you mean Oct 19th for the Digikit?
Ya. Actually, there is a free YW kit on Kathy's blog this week. It's a collab with Tracy. I am on Kathy's CT. Look on my SAHM Scrapper blog I think on the right side. She designs under "The Latest Scoop, Too".
This post actually cracked me up! I could just envision a 19-month-old kicking her siblings in the head during singing...how funny! You're such a good and patient mom :)
I can't wait for that kit!!
