A few weekends ago we got to be in the Festival of Trees parade. Last year I was pregnant and had some "issues" so I had to ride in the float. This year I walked with BA Baracas as we pushed Sweet Pea in the stroller. The other kids rode in the float. I must say I definitely liked walki
ng more than riding (ok, when I was riding, I was in charge of the music so I didn't get to see much). It was cold, but fun. Sweet Pea slept the whole time, which was good because it was so cold.
After shopping on Black Friday, I came home and decided it was time to think about decorating for Christmas. Doe ate his usual breakfast (leftovers from dinner or dessert) and got his shoes and coat on before he asked if he could go play. At 8:00 am. I hate to always say no. I would like my kids to just always want to stay home because it is such a wonderful place to be. But, alas, Nobody has a Wii. And a fun kid to play with. And cool neighbor kids to play with. And I'm just not at the top of the list when you factor those things in.So I had to think fast. And sometimes, I'm pretty good at that. So I tell Doe that it is a special day.
Really? What is so special about it?
It's the day after Thanksgiving. Do you know what we do on the day after Thanksgiving?
No.
We put up the Christmas decorations!
That did the trick. The shoes and coat came off immediately. All 3 kids love helping put the Christmas stuff up- especially the tree. The tree in and of itself provides hours...no, probably more in the neighborhood of days of entertainment for Doe and Ubby throughout the month of December.
How, you ask? After the tree is all decorated, they bring all the little "things" they can find, including animals, figures, objects, slides, etc., to the tree and make villages and have wonderful adventures with their toys on the Christmas tree. Thus, my children stayed home all day Friday. (It probably helps that the tree was a $3 tree- the branches give plenty of space for playing without bumping into other branches.)

Wait, what? We have a Christmas parade? How come nobody told me? Them Meikles LOVE a good parade! Dang.
I miss having Christmas decorations up. I am having to compensate by blasting Christmas music 14 hours a day. Only slightly driving the other members of my family crazy. But, as my mom would say, "tough noogies."
You forgot to type Sweet Pea instead of C*******. Just lettin ya know. And you have really cute kids btw. I don't think I've told you that this week yet :)
I can't wait to decorate for Christmas. Mty oldest is in a parade this year. I am hoping we don't all freeze while we wait for her to come past.
Sorry we are kind of fun neighbors sometime, we are trying to encourage them not to play the wii the WHOLE time they are here! But really, they can come over anytime!
That looks like so much fun. The holidays are so much funner when you are a parent, I decided. I can't wait to have Santa fill my girls' stockings this year. The parade looks like a good time too!
