Music

A while ago I read an article that talked about the trashy music out today and how it is contributing to some extra bad (moral) behavior in teenagers.

And I remember when I was a teenager my dad telling us that the music we listened to was nothing compared to the music he had when he was a teenager (The Beetles, etc.)

The more I think about it, though, the more I think the music of the mid to late 80's and the first half of the 90's was good music. Really good music.

So I got this idea. Someone should go get old tapes from those 10 years. And just play them continuously on a radio station. So,when songs like these:

"I'll Be There For You" by Bon Jovi
"Blame it on the Rain" by Malli Vanilli
"Straight Up" by Paula Abdul
"Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor
"(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams
"End Of The Road" by Boyz II Men
"Jump" by Kris Kross
"If I Ever Fall In Love" by Shai
"The Sign" by Ace Of Base
"Hold on to the Nights" by Richard Marx
"Flame" by Cheap Trick
"Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin

are "released", they will be released into 2009-2019. (I like to live in a bubble...therefore, if any of these songs are highly inappropriate, please don't tell me. I liked them when I was a naive teenager and I have purposely not thought of them in any other way since.)

So, that's my idea. I really like it.

uh, don't want to burst your bubble, but they already do this in bigger cities and on satellite radio. Come for a drive with me and I'll show you. You can also listen to it on the internet if you are a sirius subscriber.
But I agree, that is a good time for music. Maybe that is why this is what they played at all the church dances in the late 90's :)

Wow, all those songs bring back memories of high school when we used to hang out. All classics!

I love the nostalgia of old music - nothing brings back high school like the songs we thought were incredibly cool.

I recognize a lot of those songs, which is impressive because I am a total musical loser.

I have to look up the lyrics of all the music my daughter wants to download on itunes, just to make sure. It is scary, the songs that are out there. Although there were some pretty nasty songs back in our day, too.

Oh, music. It is one of the centers of my life!
But we have the same problem. It's just not as clean as I (the parental unit) would like it to be.
Pandora is totally awesome and satellite radio is such a cool idea!!!
PS "Don't Worry Be Happy" is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!
PPS ucmama, you know we all grooved to Milli Vanilli!!!

Yeah, Pandora is cool. And it can give you great new music that's like what you already like. Uh, did that make sense?

I loved Phil Collins too---Groovy Kind of Love? I loved Red Red Wine, but that's like TOTALLY heathen.

Right?
