The day came for us to go and it was a downpour here in Davenport!! I looked on the internet and it said it was supposed to be rainy in Nauvoo the entire day and night.
So we broke down and made reservations at a hotel.
As we started driving down, the weather became more and more clear. By the time we got there, there were no rain clouds in site. In fact, we didn't see any rain clouds the entire 2 days we were there!
We went to the state park to make our pre-cooked tin foil dinners (Heat them up) and make 'smores.
In the evening, we went to see "Sunset on the Mississippi". We didn't know what time it started, so we actually got there quite late. But, lucky us, the BYU ballroom dance team was performing immediately after. They were amazing!! Caroline sat on my lap for the first 4 dances without moving! We all loved it and were actually able to stay the entire time because everyone (Caroline) was so good.

The next morning BA and I went on a session together while the kids stayed in the hotel room and ate breakfast and watched TV.
Since we had no time limits, we decided to go to Carthage one last time. It was a neat experience, as always.

We love Nauvoo! What a blessing to live so close! I am glad you guys went down before you had to leave! What a cool time for you kids, to live that close to church history!!!
I will never forget my trip there with the girls. The girls still look at pictures and tell me they remember everything about our trip. They even mention the "sippy sippy river". We should all go back there one time with the whole family. That would be awesome.
I miss Nauvoo. We used to go there all the time when we lived in Northern Missouri. It is a great place.
What a neat experience your family has had living so close to all the church history. It is a beautiful place. We are excited to see you in July. Good luck with everything. Tell your family hello.
