Visitors

The past week has been a very eventful one. My parents flew into Chicago Thursday and were going to Wicked. So we bought tickets for the boys (for b-day presents) to see the show. I was thankful for the trade off I made with "Nobody"- she would take my boys (and her hubby and son) to Chicago if I would watch her 1 and 3 year old. The boys loved the show as well as spending a night in Chicago with their grandparents.

Friday, both sets of grandparents arrived at our home. We chatted and then everyone went to their respective hotels/rooms for a nap. My mom took the kids swimming at their hotel. My kids love to go swimming when grandparents come into town. And I don't mind having it quiet for 2 hours.

Friday evening BA Baracas made some outstanding ribs and twice baked potatoes for all of us. He is such a great cook. In fact, he cooked on Saturday night as well.

Saturday morning Doe got baptized. It was a great baptism.
I dare say that a baptism in "Zion" requires a lot less work and preparation than a baptism "out in the mission field" does. But I got it all set up and things went very smoothly. Doe did a great job. Grandma Ford gave a talk on baptism and brought a key to symbolize that baptism is the key to the Celestial Kingdom. Doe likes little trinkets and wanted to take the key to get baptized. And then he asked for it no less than 20 times before the end of the short meeting.

In the afternoon we went to see some big tractors. Both grandpas were in seventh heaven. In the evening we went to a buffet for dinner- Doe's choice. He thinks buffets are the coolest place to eat.

Sunday morning I had ward council, followed by the primary program in Sacrament meeting, followed by sharing time, followed by a primary potluck/leadership meeting in the evening. I opted out of the leadership meeting because my family was here. But the primary program went better than I had even imagined. Most of the children had memorized their parts and they remembered the songs really good. Even I was surprised at how good they did, based on how they did in the rehearsal last week.

Sunday afternoon we all had our good after church nap and then just visited the rest of the evening. Monday the Fords left around 8:30. But our other grandparents weren't going to leave until lunch time. So I let the children skip school and go to the pool for the morning.

It was such a fun weekend. We absolutely love it when our family comes to visit us!

Since Monday, life has stayed unusually busy, as I have submitted one free book from snapfish and am working on another free book. Actually, it will be for my parents for Christmas, so technically it's my mom's free book, since there was only one free book per household. Now I kick myself for not at least signing up for more free books- for other people, of course. Anything for "free".

Double congratulations! On surviving the primary program and on a baptism. Wonderful that all the grandparents could be there!

But how did the school secretary code in your kids absense? HOW!?! You'd better watch out for the truancy police, I think they're about to come knocking at your door.

They already came. I had the kids locked up in the basement and told them they had the wrong house.
